چکیده
This study provides an annotated checklist of the freshwater fish species recorded in lentic ecosystems Greece. Species distributional data were derived from extensive review published and unpublished sources evaluated for their consistency, adequacy reliability. Overall, 650 (149 natural 501 artificial) investigated which, 480 fishless or unavailable. In remaining 170 ecosystems, 122 taxa (belonging to 22 families 57 genera). Some records concerned with extirpated populations, doubtful occurrences uncertain taxonomic status. The highest richness (52 species) was Ionian ecoregion while endemicity Macedonia-Thessaly (43.75%). Eastern Aegean presented level introduced (75%). Only eight hosted 20 more species, 92 had over 50% species. most widespread native (Anguilla anguilla Luciobarbus albanicus) two highly migratory highlighting importance connectivity aquatic ecosystems. translocated Cyprinus carpio due its high commercial recreational value, whereas Gambusia holbrooki confirmed dispersal ability being alien More than one third (37.23 %) are threatened based on IUCN Red List. ultimate contribution this is support coordination dissemination baseline information fishes Greek required by a range users. knowledge will enable further understanding regional assemblage structure other biogeographical patterns ichthyofauna Greece contribute conservation prioritising areas hosting need protection. Finally, reveals gap regarding composition many highlights relevant primary research including systematic standardised samplings.

Periphytic algae dynamics in lentic ecosystems in the Brazilian semiarid.
The hydrological periods drive the structure and organization of aquatic communities in semiarid regions. We hypothesize that a decrease of the precipitation during the dry period will favor the development of the periphytic algal community, leading to higher richness and density in this period. To test this hypothesis, we investigated the changes in the periphytic algal community structure in ...
متن کاملCharacterizing lentic freshwater fish assemblages using multiple sampling methods.
Characterizing fish assemblages in lentic ecosystems is difficult, and multiple sampling methods are almost always necessary to gain reliable estimates of indices such as species richness. However, most research focused on lentic fish sampling methodology has targeted recreationally important species, and little to no information is available regarding the influence of multiple methods and timi...

متن کاملComparison of primer sets for the study of Planctomycetes communities in lentic freshwater ecosystems.
In search of a primer set that could be used to study Planctomycetes dynamics in lakes and especially via fingerprinting methods, e.g. denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE), three existing specific primer sets, developed for marine and soil systems, have been tested on water samples from four freshwater ecosystems. The first primer set (PLA46F/PLA886R) allowed PCR amplification of Plan...
متن کاملSurvey of parasitic fauna of different ornamental freshwater fish species in Iran
Parasitic diseases are harmful and limiting factors in breeding and rearing ornamental fish industry. In this study, 400 apparently healthy ornamental fishes from five species (each species 80 specimens) including: Goldfish (Carassius auratus), guppy (Poecilia reticulate), angelfish (Pterophyllum scalare), discus (Symphsodon discus) and sailfin molli...
